The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport is a truly international organisation.
It has a network of National Councils and Sections that spans the globe. From Ireland to India, Asia to Africa, and Canada to Australia, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport serves the interests of more than 30,000 members. Specific services and support are provided worldwide which closely match the needs of members within each country.
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport also has `Chartered Status', conferred in the UK by Royal Charter. This gives added prestige and a guarantee of professional standards.
There are four categories of membership to the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. All members are actively encouraged to progress through these categories through a commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning.
- Affiliate I Student - Affiliate offers access to all the benefits of membership, except voting rights and letters after your name. It is open to those who are interested in Logistics and Transport but who do not qualify for or aspire to higher grades of membership. A student may join as an Affiliate with the intention of taking CILT qualifications.
- Membership - Members Grade includes letters after your name (MILT). Members Grade is open to those who have relevant qualifications and experience but who do not yet qualify for Chartered Status.
- Chartered Membership - Full membership, including voting rights and letters after your name (CMILT). It is open to those individuals who hold the CILT Advanced Diploma, or an exempting qualification (usually an approved degree) and have at least 5 years relevant experience in Logistics and/or Transport, including 2 years at a senior level. There are in addition specific routes to Chartered Membership for those people who have significant relevant experience but not the educational qualifications.
- Chartered Fellowship - (FCILT) - Fellowship of the CILT is open to Chartered Members who have at least 7 years' experience in a position or positions of high responsibility in the management of Logistics or Transport. In exceptional circumstances it is also granted to individuals who have attained a position of eminence in Logistics or Transport.
